UNESCO opens nominations for the 2025 UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa Prize for ICT in Education

Manama: The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) has announced the opening of nominations for the 2025 UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa Prize for the Use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Education.
Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education, highlighted the significance of this international award, which was established as a royal initiative by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He underscored its global impact in supporting and recognising innovative projects that leverage technology to enhance lifelong learning opportunities, in alignment with sustainable development goals. The 2025 edition marks the 20th anniversary of the prize.
The minister noted that the theme of the 2025 edition is “Preparing learners and teachers for the ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence.” The award aims to honour outstanding projects from individuals, institutions, and non-governmental organisations worldwide that have been in operation for at least one year. These projects must demonstrate the effective use of modern technology to improve educational services and expand access to quality learning in line with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4)—ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education for all.
UNESCO has set March 28, 2025, as the deadline for nominations, which must be submitted through the National Commissions of UNESCO member states or non-governmental organisations in official partnership with UNESCO.
