HM King Celebrates Education Milestones at Bahrain First Festival 2026
Manama: His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa attended the Bahrain First Festival 2026, organised by the Ministry of Education at Bahrain National Stadium, in a vibrant celebration of national identity and educational achievement.
Upon arrival, His Majesty was received by Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education, along with senior ministry officials. Around 30,000 students from public and private schools warmly welcomed His Majesty. The ceremony opened with the national anthem, followed by a recitation from the Holy Quran by student Khalid Abdulghani Humood of Al Muharraq Secondary Boys School.
In his address, the Minister of Education expressed deep appreciation for His Majesty’s continued patronage and support of the education sector. He highlighted the pivotal role of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in advancing educational and national development initiatives.
The minister noted several landmark achievements, including the Ministry of Education securing first place globally in the Microsoft Showcase Schools Programme 2025, with participation from over 60 countries. He also highlighted the University of Bahrain’s inclusion for the first time in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, making it the first national university to achieve this distinction.
Additionally, a World Bank report issued in October 2025 praised the Mohammed Jaber Al Ansari Teachers College for the quality of its academic programmes, while the ministry was also honoured with the Arab Government Excellence Award for best educational project.
The event featured a grand “Bahrain First” operetta performed by around 4,000 students, concluding with a warm farewell to His Majesty.
